Cycling To Save The Environment

Changing global climate, pollution, dependence on oil is reduced by biking instead of using automobiles. People who ride their bicycle everyday avoid producing 7 tons of smog everyday. Short car trips to the store and back are the worst when it comes to pollution. Just remember that the store is probably not that far away.

Some of the pollutants that come out of the tailpipes of vehicles are volatile organic compounds. This affects the air at ground level. Because of this, it affects the lungs of others. The other pollutants include nitrogen oxide. High levels on NO2 can lead to acid rain. There’s also carbon monoxide, which reduces the amount of oxygen that the blood can store. Almost all carbon monoxide comes from vehicles. Cars also release carbon monoxide too. This is the air that we exhale, but the problem with too much carbon monoxide is the rising levels may increase the risks of hurricanes

Unfortunately all of these things are bad for the health of us, and our planet. Despite improvements in transportation, there are still more people on the road than there ever has been before.

When you ride your bike to destinations, not only are you helping the environment, but you’re also saving money on gas, plus benefiting from the exercise. Cycling is a fun and healthy way to stay active for all ages and fitness levels. If you’re overweight and haven’t exercised in awhile, it’s best to consult a physician before any strenuous exercise. Plus remember when bicycling to always wear all the suggested protective gear, plus drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. It’s also wise to stretch before hopping on your bicycle to prevent muscle injuries. Muscles and tendons are more susceptible to injury when they are cold. Start your bike ride slowly.

One last thing, be sure to always wear sunscreen before going out.
