Also don’t forget to eat before riding. Good snacks while biking include protein bars, bagels, pretzels, fruit, nuts, trail mix. Items that are complex carbs will keep your energy level up. Some people eat all day long while riding to keep a consistent intake of carbs and calories.
Drink water, sports drinks, more water, sports drinks, and more water. Even if you’re not sweating, you’re still losing fluids. If you become dehydrated, then you’re in for some serious problems. Be sure to alternate servings of water with electrolyte drinks while doing strenuous exercising. If you’re not urinating while you ride, you’re not taking in enough liquids.
Also be sure to warm up before riding. Go for a practice run, walk, jog, whatever it takes to warm up.
